The Thanksgiving Checklist // Why I Love Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is my all-time favorite holiday. I can't say that I have ever had a bad Thanksgiving (knock on wood for this year!). My Thanksgiving normally goes about the same every year. I wake up on Thanksgiving morning and usually watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. My extended family arrives and the men rush off the watch football. My cousins and I decorate turkey cookies. Turkey cookies are a candy cookie creation which began when I was five years old. I will most likely create a separate post on the assembly of turkey cookies. We then sit down for our dinner around two o'clock in the afternoon.

Even though we have a small family, we always have a feast fit for a king. We load up our table with turkey, mom's mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, butternut squash, mom's "danger rolls" (they are loaded up with butter, hence the danger), sparkling apple cider, my pumpkin pie, and turkey cookies.  Sparkling apple cider, specifically Martinelli's, has been a tradition amongst my little cousin and I since who knows when. Although we are both over the age of 21 now (she turned 21 in June!), we still vote for Martinelli's over wine at the dinner table. After our dinner, we go for a dog walk that does not always involve dogs. Then we retire to the living room for dessert and perhaps some more cider before saying goodbye.

Although this is a joyous occasion I have to say that there is a lot of prep work involved and if you don't properly prepare, the day itself can be rather hectic. To combat this issue, I have created a Thanksgiving Checklist fit for your feast of any size. May this check list help decrease your burden and any fears that you may forget to prep something for the actual holiday.

I hope you all have a festive and fun Thanksgiving!

What are your Thanksgiving plans? Do you have any traditions?
