New Year's Resolutions | 2015

I find it fitting to create a New Year's Resolutions post on January 1st. I honestly can't believe how quickly 2014 passed but to be entirely honest, I am more than happy to move on to a new year. I want  2015 to be better and that won't happen without setting some goals.

Here are my New Year's Resolutions:

Drink More Water: This may seem like a trivial one but hydration status plays a big role in overall health. I go through phases where I drink more or less water (I am in the less water phase currently). I know how great it can feel to be hydrated and how good it is for your metabolism, your skin and your general health. I have even purchased a BKR water bottle to help me in my efforts. A cute water bottle can only help, right?

Wake Up Earlier: I am guessing most of you already wake up early but for me, waking up early has always been an issue. Fortunately/unfortunately, I mostly work from home and have a very flexible job. I basically work throughout the day but I can start and stop as I please (for the most part). I got into the habit of working late, going to bed late, and waking up late. My new goal is to wake up by 8 AM every morning (this may already seem late to some of you). I started a week and a half ago and it is not easy to totally flip your sleep schedule, especially when you have a lot of trouble falling asleep but so far, I am making it work.

Exercise Earlier In The Day: I have a tendency to immediately start working in the morning before I even eat breakfast or change out of my PJ's. When you work from home, this is easy to do. I often don't see the outside world or move around much until the mid-to-late afternoon. My goal for 2015 is to (for the most part) get up and take a walk as soon as I wake up. I may do some yoga on days I feel my body needs that (or when it is freezing outside) or I may head straight to the gym. I just want to start moving earlier on in the day.

Make Time For Myself: I am one of those people who often puts others before myself. I spend a lot of time working, with other people, or driving to see other people. I don't have the opportunity to do many activities alone because I am frequently with friends or family when I am not working. I want to make more time to do things alone; for instance, seeing a movie alone or walking around the city alone. As I always hear, you need to take care of yourself before you can take care of others and I am realizing more and more how true that statement is.

Those are my New Year's Resolutions. I had an infinity longer list in my head but I wanted to be realistic and set myself up for success.

What are your New Year's Resolutions?

Happy 2015!
