Oatmeal: Three Unique Ways [Video]


In my most recent video, I show you three unique ways to prepare oatmeal. I love oatmeal during the winter but it can be time consuming and often I repeat the same recipe far too often. These three methods are unique yet incredibly simple. 


Crockpot Oatmeal
Makes Two Servings

Ingredients: 
1/2 cup steel cut oats
1 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk
1 cup water
1/2 Tablespoon agave syrup
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon chia seeds

Directions:
1) Combine all ingredients into a crockpot
2) Set the crockpot to HIGH for 1.5 hours
3) Turn off the crockpot and leave it covered overnight
4) Serve warm or cold!

Brownie Batter Overnight Oats
Makes One Serving

Ingredients:
1/4 cup oats
1/4 cup non fat plain Greek yogurt
1 Tablespoon chia seeds
1 Tablespoon unsweetened cocoa powder
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 Tablespoons maple syrup
1/2 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk
Dash of salt

Directions:
1) Combine all ingredients
2) Mix thoroughly
3) Store in a Mason jar in the fridge overnight
4) Serve cold

Apple Cinnamon Instant Oatmeal
Makes Five Servings

Ingredients:
2 cups instant oatmeal
1/4 cup non fat dry milk powder (I purchased mine at Whole Foods)
1/4 cup toasted oat bran
2 Tbsp chia seeds
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups dried apple rings
1/4 cup sugar (or other sweetener that measures like sugar)
1 Tablespoon ground cinnamon

Directions:
1) Chop dried apples
2) Combine all ingredients 
3) Mix thoroughly
4) Pour 3/4 cup of mixture into five separate baggies
5) To cook: add 1.5 cups of water to one baggies worth of mixture in a bowl; cook in the microwave for one minute
