Celebrating Hanukkah!



Last night we finally had the chance to make latkes and celebrate Hanukkah! 


We tried out a new latke recipe and they were very simple yet delicious. We paired them with homemade applesauce [my dad's recipe]. We had prepared it a few days before and stored it in the fridge. In case you're interested, here is the recipe:

Applesauce

3 apples (peeled and chopped)
1/3 cup sugar
Water
Ground cinnamon to taste

Directions:

1) Place apples in food processor
2) Pulse until pureed
3) Pour apples into a pot with water; use enough water to cover the apples
4) Add sugar and cinnamon 
5) Cook on low for approximately two hours [will reduce a lot]
6) Store for up to two weeks in the fridge


To make the meal simple, I picked up matzoh ball soup and jelly donuts at Eli's Zabar. We toasted the evening with some local hard apple cider. 


Of course we had to display the cute card my mom sent!
