Florence Guide: One Day

Hello Everyone!

After returning from Italy, I received a number of requests for Florence recommendations. Everyone wants to know the highlights, as many people only spend a couple days in Florence. To (hopefully) show you the best of Florence, I am sharing a one day travel guide to Florence.

8 AM: Grab a cappuccino at your closest coffee shop & head to Accademia

10 AM: Wonder over to Piazza del Duomo and venture up the stairs of the cathedral for a fantastic view of the city

12 PM: Make your way over to Mercato Centrale. Check out the local vendors downstairs then make your way upstairs to select one of their many eateries for lunch

2 PM: Stroll over the Ponte Vecchio to the Boboli Gardens; make a pit stop at Venchi's for gelato on the way [you can't go wrong with any flavor but I really enjoyed nougatine]

5 PM: Head back over the river & fit in a little shopping--you can find everything from Gucci to H&M

7 PM: Head to SimBIOsi for some incredible pizza [the burrata & spicy salami was my personal favorite]

9 PM: Grab a spritz to end the night at La Menagerie

Additional Info:

*Accademia gets busy early--make sure to go first thing. You can purchase tickets there or online--the standard ticket is called the "b-ticket" but EU citizens ages 18-25 can get reduced price tickets & minors (under 18) get in for free. Also the first Sunday of every month is free!

*The Boboli Gardens will only cost you 10 euros. You can purchase tickets on site and will receive museum access as well

*All the eateries I shared, with the exception of Venchi's, have free wifi [this is very important for visitors without an international phone plan]

Are there any other cities you'd like to see a one day guide for?

Summer Bucket List

Hello everyone!

Visiting California this week has made me nostalgic for the California summers I experienced in my youth. My family and I took trips to the coast, picked berries, and visited amusement parks. Yesterday Joe and I visited Santa Cruz and it reminded me of those times [more of that trip soon!]. It inspired me to create a summer bucket list--something I haven't done in a while. Here it goes:

-Wine tasting in Napa
-Visit Coney Island
-Picnic in Central Park
-Kayak on the Hudson
-See a rooftop or movie in the park
-Visit the New York Botanic Garden
-Day trip to Santa Barbara
-Visit the Boardwalk
-Pick strawberries
-Make jam
-Check out a beer garden
-Enjoy summer!

What is on your summer bucket list?

PopSugar Must Have | June 2016

Hello friends!

Last week I received the June PopSugar Must Have box in the mail. I am a huge fan of this subscription box. This box came full to the brim with seven full sized lifestyle products. They offer two options--a full size box: $39.95/month [$100 value] with full sized products & they offer a mini box: $19.95/month.

The June box came with a neutral diamonds-printed sarong, "cheers" gold bottle opener, Ridley's Games Room "Who am I?" quiz, NCLA nail lacquer in "Born on the 4th", compact mirror, Pacific underarm deodorant wipes, and Sriracha pressels [Joe will love these!]. This box came out a $117 value!

I love that this box offers a variety of products--from fashion to food to fun.

I recommend checking out the PopSugar Must Have this summer!

Thank you, PopSugar, for sending me this box!

Hello Florence

Hello there!

As you may or may not know, I recently had the opportunity to travel to Italy for nearly three weeks. Before diving head on into Italy blog posts, I wanted to take a moment to fill you in on my trip--why I went, where I went, etc.

I traveled to Florence, Italy for a study abroad program for my master's. I am getting my master's in New York but my university offers a 2.5 week food & culture course in Italy every summer. I decided to seize this opportunity to travel and study in another country [for obvious reasons!].

Our home base was Florence but I also traveled to a number of other cities through the program and on my off days. I got to know a good chunk of Italy during my time abroad.

My program was about food so get ready for tons of posts & videos on the topic of Italian cuisine [there are worse things to study!].

I am excited to share my trip & experiences with you all.

I hope you enjoy these upcoming posts.
