Apple Picking at Demarest Farms [Near NYC]

We may earn money or products from the companies mentioned in this post.

Over the weekend, I ventured to New Jersey to go apple picking at Demarest Farms with Joe and my friend, Marta. It was a lovely escape from the Manhattan, especially since apple picking is a quintessential fall activity.

After extensive research [obviously hardcore research], I chose Demarest Farms. From New York City, the majority of apple orchards and pumpkin patches are over an hour drive away but this farm was only roughly 30 minutes from the city.  Demarest Farms is open for apple picking on weekends from 9 AM-4:30 PM.

Upon arrival at the farm, you can purchase a general admission ticket [$5], which includes a hay ride [to the apple orchards] and petting zoo access. You can purchase an apple bag for $9 and fill it up as much as possible!

Joe and I managed to fit 19 apples in our bag–not bad at the $9 price point!

Stay tuned for a post next week with all of my apple recipe picks.

The orchards also contain a pumpkin patch. For $9, you can bring home the largest pumpkin you can carry!

After we picked apples, we returned to the farm and picked up cider donuts from their store. They have a cute little shop, filled to the brim with donuts, baked goods, ice cream, sandwiches, and all the fall goodies you can imagine. Of course we had to munch on some hot and fresh cider donuts [I swear they replenished their trays every five minutes].

I could not recommend this spot more for your apple picking needs, especially if you live in New York City or the surrounding area.

Do you need more apple orchard recommendations in New York and New Jersey?
